Fayette County Master Gardener Volunteers, Fayette Soil & Water Conservation District (FS&WCD), Carnegie Library, Fayette County Historical Society, and Washington C. H.’s Tree Committee collaborated to organize a Family Fun Day at the Washington Cemetery. The program had stations with fun activities on history and conservation practices.
MGVs have their phenology garden at the cemetery. They set-up a bee and pollinator activities at the phenology garden. Families solved a crossword puzzle about bees with their help.
The Tree Committee and MGVs helped participants identify trees. Participants learned why trees are important. They were encourage to go hug a tree.
With Paint Creek running through the cemetery, MGVs had stations about creek life and clean water. The historical society sponsored a reenactment group at the site of the Civil War Veteran burial plots.
Everyone had a family fun day!
