The Licking County Master Gardener Volunteers are once again having their popular Plant Sale and Bake Sale on May 14 from 9 am to 3 pm. The address for the event will be on 473 Hudson Avenue in Newark. The sale typically will have vegetables, herbs and perennials. There will also be a bake sale and some yard sale items. The event is held along with the Annual Hudson Avenue Yard Sale where many neighbors on the Avenue line the streets with their yard sale items. LCMGV's have been involved in this sale since 1999 and proceeds help to fund our Junior Gardening Program.

On a soggy April 19th, MGV's Ruth Sainsbury and Sherry LeMaster went to a local daycare center and gave a program to daycare regulars and older children there due to spring break. The kids picked their own pansy and planted it and took their flower home. They also had two papers, a connect the dots and coloring picture of an ant hill. The importance of plants in the food chain, various flowers and growing vegetables were discussed. Children had many questions and stories to tell. They were well received and another program day was set up.
