The proceeds from the garden tour will be used to fund the Miami County Master Gardeners’ programs and projects, especially educational outreach to Habitat for Humanity homeowners. Miami County Master Gardeners are part of the Ohio State University Extension statewide Mater Gardener program. Their mission is to provide education and knowledge about plants and their care, and their importance to the environment in the community. Besides partnering with Habitat, other Master Gardener projects have included a weekly horticulture hotline throughout the summer, workshops on pruning and garden design, and an educational booth in the horticultural building during the county fair. Landscape design and assistance has been provided for non-profit organizations such Riverside School, Health Partners Free Clinic and Troy Christian Schools.
