Licking County - MGV's Participate in Coalition of Care fundraiser at Wilson's Garden Center

Licking County Coalition of Care, a partnership of approximately 50 local churches assist those in need of emergency assistance. Beginning their sixth year, they have been able to provide shelter, transportation, prescription drug and other basic needs. Their recent fundraiser which was sponsored by Wilson's Garden Center in Newark, was a great success. Over 200 attendees filled the garden center after hours to participate in the evenings festivities. 5 Licking County MGV's gave 20 minute programs each. Programs were: Please Deer...Not tonight!!! by Kaye Alban, Seed Starting by Carol Edmister, Vertical Vegetable Gardening by Paula McDonald, Lasagna Gardening Basics by Dick Baltisberger and Bugs and the IPM by Tom Beckett. Mike Ecker, Director of Horticulture at Dawes Arboretum showed proper pruning techniques and Cassie D'Aula discussed Square Foot Gardening.
